Poetry and Stories for the Soul and Individuation

Welcome to the Poetry and Stories section of the website. This page of the site has a slightly more personal touch, and features poetry and stories that have been particularly inspirational either to me in my individuation journey or my clients. Enjoy!

Autobiography in Five Short Chapters by Portia Nelson
I was first introduced to this short passage in James Hollis's book The Middle Passage: From Misery to Meaning in Midlife.  (Inner City Books, 1993)  It reflects the process we go through as we strive to be conscious and reminds us that we do have a certain amount of free will in working with our fate.

The Journey by Mary Oliver

Touched by an Angel by Maya Angelou

The Guest House by Rumi

The Well of Grief by David Whyte

The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

The Rainmaker - Chinese Story
The story was apparently told to Carl Jung by Richard Wilhelm.  Robert Johnson has written a nice article on the Relationship of the Inner and Outer using this story on Inward Light.
