We experience the archetype of death as we move through the
various stages of our lives. We experience it whenever we leave
something behind and move onto new challenges on our spiritual
journey. This is particularly relevant at midlife when a
reorientation from the world of the ego to some spiritual life
can happen. The lecture uses the Homeric Hymn to Demeter and
Persephone to explore the themes of depression, grief, symbolic
death, and the subsequent emergence through the processes of
transformation.
